WWKA (Women With Kitchen Appliances)

From here and elsewhere

Women With Kitchen Appliances (WWKA) are three, four, or five, or six… Identical. Interchangeable. Disposable. And dead serious. They are a performance collective, a rock band, a sound project, a cabaret act, a recipe, a synchronized rubber glove routine, a BBQ chicken washing machine, a confectionery flour Christmas jingle, and a kitchen certification service.

Since it was formed in 1999, more than fifty anonymous feminist artists have participated in the WWKA collective project. They have performed live in theatres and cabarets, on radio and television, in lofts, lounges, galleries, corner stores, white cubes, and black cubes, at festivals, in bars, in people’s homes, and in their kitchens.

To mark the 20th anniversary of WWKA, which has been relatively dormant since 2012, members will regroup to make one last farewell performance that will officially bring an end to the collective project.
