I am eating icecream while writing this text. I am eating icecream for real, not just writing about it. It gives me great pleasure. Ice cream goes through my digestive system and my body knows how to turn the sugar into energy, and how to use the proteins, and how to get rid of the leftovers. Digestion is a process that involves the body in other processes, one point in the cycle of matter. Performance operates like digestion. Performance and digestion are equally real. They are meeting points for material flows, actual events transforming material into other material.

Working mainly in the field of performance art, Liina Kuittinen’s background is in the visual arts. Her work has been shown in the context of festivals and events but also in galleries and on Instagram. Liina received her MA in fine arts at the Fine Arts Academy in Helsinki, Finland in 2017.
