Hugo Nadeau

Quebec

Hugo Nadeau is an interdisciplinary artist from Saint-Zacharie in Les Etchemins. His work takes the form of performances, installations, digital arts, poetry and publications. His practice imitates the ways in which our institutions and societies structure themselves. He uses complexity and abundance as methods, and plays with notoriety as a reflection on egotism and self-creation. Co-founder of the IF (International Factice), he also founded a series of perpetual projects such as LHN (Ligue Hugo Nadeau), EH (Édifice H. Nadeau pour la poésie), Projet Citoyen Modèle, Conspiration H1N1, and Le Miroir, in hopes of attaining media autonomy.

Culling freely and on principle from diverse artworks and cultures, Hugo offers his practice as free content and privileges the gift in resistance to creative ownership. He has a self-Masters in reality (2017-2019) and is the recipient of a number of provincial and national grants and prizes. His work has been shown in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Poland, England, Germany, China, and India.
